no captive-ntfs knoppix

so i need to change the admin password on a xp box so i booted knoppix and got chntpw. now the HD is NTFS so i can not write to it. I thought there was supposed to be captive-ntfs but it is not there. I am using knoppix 4.0, most recent release.

is it not there? how do i get it if it is not there?

thanks

First, check the Knoppix repositories to see if there is such a thing available.

Second, run apt-get update, to update package information.

Third, run apt-get install captive-ntfs (or whatever it's called) to install it.

PS. Unless I am sorely mis-informed, with the kernel version in 4.0, you should be able to write to ntfs partitions, if the kernel is configured properly.
