NFS problem

Hi!

I demonstrate my problem with 2 computers. A = NFS server, B = NFS client

I have exported my home directory.
From /etc/exports on computer A:
Code:
/home/jasone 192.168.1.0/255.255.255.0(rw,sync)
I have mounted an external firewire disk (/dev/sdb1) in that very same directory i.e /home/jasone/mnt/ on computer A and it is read and writable from computer A.

The problem is that I can read and write to every directory within /home/jasone exept mnt/ from computer B. How come?

Thanks in advance for helpful answers!

nfs exports only apply to the specified filesystem. Since /home/jasone/mnt is on a different device, you need to add a separate entry for it in /etc/exports. Also, IIRC, you need to rerun exportfs after you mount/remount the firewire device.

Yes, with NFS each fs/device must be specified separately in /etc/exports. You might want to have a look at coda, which does no have this "problem". The basic structure is described here.
