newbie wants to create his own distro


hello! =)

im a newbie in linux and i successfully installed and administer my machine. im currently using redhat 8 and i also have mandrake 9.0

i love linux! and i want to create my own distro just for fun =) is this possible for a newbie like me to create my own and share it over the net? i have nothing to do in our house and i want to make this as my hobby.

Start with LFS or www.linuxfromscratch.org and go from there. This will show you how to build a Linux OS from scratch, ground up on your own and it will give you insight on what is needed to build your own distro if you want.

LiveCDs

What I think are really cool are the LiveCD distros, like Knoppix. These have been used to create bootable archives of linux software, for things like educational programs and scientific computing.

lfs is definately the best starting point, try and learn some basic bash scripting along the way, it will help you lots when you make your distro.

orange400; U R ok with me n oldnewbie. how about some sage input from
expierenced hands like u for solid advice for a solid OS. yeah acknowledge
learning is expierence but it can be made easier with guidance. THANK you
