Hi ppl, enquiring about dual booting, win2k pro NTFS and Mandrake 8.1 on the same partition, is there any special technique in order to do this to perform a dual boot up. Can anyone explain this to me, the procedures. Thankyou for you time and patience.

not sure how you would do a dual boot if they are using the same partition.. might want to search www.linuxdoc.org for howto's in dual booting.

You can use bootpart to enter an entry to the boot manager that win2k use. If you search about bootpart in www.google.com I'm sure you'll find some very interesting articles about how to use this program to have a multiboot system.

I dont think you can install Linux on the same partition as Windows, because the file systems are not the same.

But generically, here the procedure you should use:

1. Partition your drive with sizes you want for Win2K, and the
rest of it blank.

2. Install Win2K first, on the first primary partition of your drive.

3. Once that is done, toss in your MDK disk, and install usng
either custom or expert mode.

4. Then just use LILO as your boot manager. It works reliably.
