New slackware-current...

Just to post because this because I can and i'm just waking up and need to get the cold fingers warmed up, I thought i'd post a great link to the slackware-current directory. Patrick V. Announced on www.slackware.com that this directory or any of the mirrors pointing to this dir will now contain a running set of updates for The Slackster. Has already added kde 2.2.2 + a great updated pkgtool set. The installpkg works fenominal and seemlesly with all of the pckgs made by him. You could go to KDE's site but for Slack he's just made a pkcg easy to install yadda yadda you know etc...Also as most know sourceforge hosts many a linux distro and like programs and this link right here is the best i've seen so far. Tons o' stuff. So, in posting what may be futile and already known to most, i've at least warmed up me fingerseses...Have a great one ya'll...:D

Hate to post this as opposed to mail, but someone else might like to know too.

Taz, do you know what happened to the Slack forum?

Solidarity,

Finegan

Honestly, I asked that a little while back, so don't feel too bad. I have no clue where it went. One day it was just gone. *POOF* So you got me there. Patrick may be updateing or sunthin'...I hope!

There is an announcement about the slack forums at userlocal, scroll about 2/3 down the page to see it.

Rockin, Thanks Aussie.

Not to sideline linuxquestions, which is probably the most helpful forum I've run across thus far, but does anyone out there have good access to a rack-mount and a Co-Lo for poor old Patrick that seems to be the one man band behind Slack now?

That article from Userlocal set me at ease as to the continuation of Slackware, but its hard seeing the... er, meanest distro of Linux have to slip a notch due to lack of support.

:(

Cheers,

Finegan

I can't say i'm set at ease, but am glad to see the forums and a statment to those who think Slack is dying. The problem IS that Patrick is the only one doing any work and all of these other distros have corporations, design teams and buttscratchers. Anyone who's seen Slack has to give Patrick some serious props (i hate that word but it's all i could think of LOL) for his distro and doing it as one man against mightier businesses.

Slack-Away!!

Don't under estimate the power of the slackers, I think plans are afoot to produce a dedicated forum box. And if the worst were ever to come to pass I think slack will end up like debian, a comunity distro.
