Network indicator on kde

There is no network indicator on the kde panel (on slackware). How can I add this and will this enable me to temporarily disconnect the network? Thanks.

Well, there could/should be, but what are you using? presumably kde 4.6/4.7/?, but are you using anything to manage the network (networkmanager/WiCD). If you are using an NM-type applet it will have its own little widget, and that will allow you to turn particular network connections on and off.

If you aren't using something NM-like, you can still have a monitoring widget, but you'll be stuck with turning things on and off by yourself, or a script, or whatever.
