Since I'm using Fedora, I had to install xmms-mpg123 as Fedora disables xmms the first time you try to use it. Some kind of license thingy.

So, you get a working xmms , then go to a web site which has internet radio like http://www.bluegrasscountry.org
Go down to the left where it says Listen now
Select MP3 ( high bandwidth )
A window should pop up asking you what to open it with.
I selected [X] other and browsed to the location of xmms.
On my box, that's at /usr/bin/xmms
select to always use this program and there you go.

I also used another program once called streamer or something like that. You may find it with a google for linux streaming media.

I am not able to locate xmms in my usr/bin

I choose some other file close and every time I click on MP3 this file comes and I am not sure how to disassociate this.

Also not all sites give the MP3 option to listen. For eg., BBC and NPR have just the Real Audio and Media Player options.

Please assist. Thanks.

If you are using Vector, I can't remember just how stripped down it is. Run the command: whereis xmms to find out where it is located. You may have to install it.
To remove a file association in KDE ,
open Control Center
KDE Components
File Associations
+audio
x-mp3
I have these on my box.....
Kaboodle
Noatin
Audio Player

Remove the file association which you don't want.

Give me a web link so I can try the other music types and let you know.

Here is one link:
www.npr.org

Thanks that command worked. xmms is at usr/x11r6/bin and also at usr/x11/bin

Can I use either one ?
Here is the full output from the command:
bash-2.05b$ whereis xmms
xmms: /usr/X11R6/bin/xmms /usr/X11/bin/xmms /usr/X11/man/man1/xmms.1.gz /usr/X11/man/man1/xmms.1
bash-2.05b$

Also, I have just ICEWM and XFCE.

Please assist. Thanks.

The link you gave doesn't work with xmms. They have a download for realplayer which you could try.
I'm not sure why your xmms isn't in the /usr/bin directory but one of the locations you showed may work.
