Need to set up a USB SmartMedia card Reader

I have a SmartMedia card reader that I have used with W98SE for reading and downloading my pictures. W98SE recognises this peripheral as just another removable disk drive. How do I get Linux to do the same thing? Where do I start?

No, not SanDisk reader

My Digital Media Express-SM is made by SIIG. Any ideas on how I can get it working?

OK I got the RedHat 6.1 drivers for the FlashPath floppy drive adapter for SmartMedia cards. I'll post any success here. (Failures I may keep to myself. )

A well worded letter (not written by me) was sent to the good folks that make the FlashPath adapter and they pointed me to a static page with the drivers.

Did you ever get your smartmedia card reader to work under Linux? I have a Sandisk smart media card reader and a laptop I'm trying to get to work. Or maybe there already exists a card reader that supports Linux? I am an experienced computer user, but not a programmer. Not even close. Any help appreciated.
