Need some insite before rebuilding the kernel.

I am running Redhat 9 with the 2.4.20-8 kernel. I have been told that I need to upgrade to the newest kernel. So, where can I find the newest "production" kernel and instructions for installing it?

I've seen some posts out here about that, but none of them were clear about where I could get the new kernel and what to do with it after I got it.
