need program to rename multiple mp3 files

Hello all,

I am looking for a simple program or script that will rename all my mp3 files to "artist-album-song.mp3". The issue I am having is that I have a massive amount of files that have no standard naming scheme and my obsessive compulsive side is getting very irritated. If I had just a few files to rename I would just do it all manually but in order for me to do what I need to do it would take days. All of my files all in one folder in order for them to load correctly on my website with minimal difficulty. So now obviously, the only way I can organize the collection correctly is to have proper file names.

I have searched and searched for hours on Google and can't find the program that will do what I need. I would rather not use something too complicated or in CLI due to fear of a typo or bad ID3 tags. And as I stated before, I can not do this one file at a time.

Thanks in advance.

solved

Looks like I found a solution to my own problem,

http://linux.softpedia.com/progDownl...oad-33570.html

I tested it out and it seems to work fairly well, even though it is java based.

Depends on your desktop environment. Thunar from Xfce will do that very nicely. For example. Another alternative that I'm aware of is pyrenamer, which is written in python/pygtk.
