Question need help with startx

Hi, I´m having problems with the X window system, it appears that there is something wrong with the configuration of the monitor, I have a 2238 IBM with a SIS: s686C20 video card with 2mb of memory, when running this program it all appears to go ok, but suddenly the server crashes and displays the following message:

Fatal Error:
no screens found

I´ve tried to fix it by running Xconfigurator but it also doesn´t works, please help!!!
Thanks!

Could be a refresh problem causing it to crash, might check with the monitor manufacturer and check that you have the correct refresh rates set for the monitor. Also, could possibly try different resolutions and test to see if the same occurance happens possibly ??

You might try to set your defalt Bpp to a lower value and Running "SuperProbe" should tell you a little about the card and what it is recognised as by Linux.
I had better luck with "XFree86 -configure" than "Xconfigurator" or "xf86config" .
The output is sent to the /var/log/XFree86.0.log it might give better insight as to why the screens werent found.
