Need help moving mount point
Hello. I have searched the forums and am still a bit confused.
My /opt is located on same partition as / and it is filling up fast. The partition that contains /usr has plenty of free space, the most on my system I would like to move /opt to the partition that /usr is mounted from. How can I safely do this. At first I was tempted to just save my files and re-install linux (Redhat 9), but then I thought no, this should be doable , I just can't seem to find a method that clearly explains the steps. I would really appreciate a few pointers and/or suggestions on how to do this. Thanks. - Lou |
Hi.
You could link /opt to a directory on /usr . Dave |
make sure you use soft link because hard link i believe does not support linking between partitions.
