need help from Linux guru's please

OK I've been using Linux (Suse 9.1) now for about 2 months or so, and so far i love it i just have 1 question that maybe someone can answer. Its more of an annoyance, is there a way or a program that will allow me to send a program to the system tray like in windows? example I'm using yahoo messenger for Linux and when i minimize it, it stays on my start tool-bar when i want it to go to the system tray. if anyone can help me id be grateful....oh and i did a search for "system tray" here but didn't get much info out of it.

Have you checked the readme/install docs for the app(s)? For example, in aMSN they have fairly clear documentation on how to get it to minimise to the system tray. Assuming that the programmers have compiled it in, you may just need to run another make file or install a dependency to get it to do this.

the functionality you're asking about is on the program's side, because kde, gnome and even fluxbox already have a system tray bar, where applications dock into it. Thus, the program you're using must have the docking feature.
