What I need is to be able to create a screenshot (.png or .jpg, etc) of the exact contents of a console screen, such as netwatch or BitchX, with the exact colors and everything the same. I know how to make a screenshot from a terminal window within X, but that always changes the colors and the font, but I need those things not to change.

This is a screenshot of BitchX, and it doesn't appear to have been created inside of an X window, since the font and colors look exactly as they do in a real console screen. Some people have said this is not possible, but the above screenshot proves that it is somehow possible, and I need to find out how.
