Question Need help adjusting my menu.lst file

All,

I have added Fedora Core 2 onto a third HD, and elected *not* to install GRUB. How can I edit my menu.lst file to access Fedora?

Here is the output of my menu.lst file:

# Modified by YaST2. Last modification on Mon Oct 11 09:50:20 2004

color white/blue black/light-gray
default 0
timeout 8
gfxmenu (hd1,1)/boot/message

Here is the output of df - T BEFORE installation:

/dev/sda3 vfat 48082 650 47432 2% /windows/E

I believe Fedora Core 2 is installed on hda1, even though it's not showing any more.

Thanks in advance.

hmmm, how are you going to get to your menu file if you can't boot it?

1) first thoughts are looking at your disk free info is that the only linux (reiserfs) is on sdb2 and no mention of any linux on hda partiitions.

2) hda1 missing in df may because it is no longer in your linux /etc/fstab?

3) but how to be sure? if you can get to grub the MENU not the menu file, you can try my trouble shooter to test each hd number and see what file system is reported
http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...hreadid=237511

eg you are at grub menu now press C for commands
a) type root (hd and press tab to see whats available
b) type root (hd0, (comma) and then press tab to see what partitions are available
c) change hd0 to 1 then 2

4) Do you have a boot disk? if so try that it may be quicker to get into FC?

5) Assuming FC truly exists you can amend your menu list file or /etc/grub.conf to resemble your new partitiions.

Hopefully
