Need good Linux or Unix INTRO book (command line focused)
I have a coworker who's interested in learning to work on the Linux command line. I want to recommend a book for him, but I can't think of any. I mostly learned using websites, man pages, etc.
Does anyone know of a good introductory tutorial type book? Even a UNIX book would be fine. If this guy can just get started and get up to the point where he knows enough to use web resources, I think he'll be able to figure it out. He's smart. He's not going to be working at a Linux desktop -- just logging in to a server using a terminal emulator. So it's really command line skills he needs to learn. Not KDE or Gnome. Thanks, Ethan |

I used UNIX in a Nutshell for classes I was taking. I found the book very useful, and gave me enough of a foundation to have confidence installing linux.

One of my favourite resources is the unix gurus site.
Caters for pretty much all levels , and has couple of stunning beginner guides. http://www.ugu.com/sui/ugu/warp.ugu |
There is a book called "Linux Shells by Example". It also covers utilities such as grep, sed & awk. It also explains how Linux processes work, and covers other shells besides bash.
