webcam

Just FYI I have a Creative webcam pro and it is OK.
However, the firewire cam I have (ADS Pyro 1394) is WAY better.
Compared to the Pyro, the Creative is junk.
Obviously you will need a firewire i/f card, but if the slots/cost don't prohibit that's the best I've seen thus far among the inexpensive alternatives.

There are parallel port webcams made by Logitech and Connectix(?) - early models. Can't find any drivers for them though, although there is meant to be someone looking after parport video support.

Anyway. Those cheap little USB QuickCams - they're fine. Took me 10 minutes to get it going. When I showed my Dad (it was his Christmas present) he said "Did they supply software for Linux too?"

Hehe

Can I use this for live feeds on the internet? (My wife's mom wants to watch our son via internet. You know grandma's.)

Thanks for any help you can offer.
