Nagios contact_groups
Hello,
I am running Nagios Core 3.2.1 on CentOS 6.2 x86. I have nearly 500 hosts being monitored ranging from desktops to firewalls to phone switches. Right now I am having a problem isolating certain contact groups. For example I would like all of the phone system alerts to only go to the phone system admins. It does not make sense for my Windows or Linux admins to get alerts for a system they cannot work on. I setup a contact group for the phone admins with only their specific accounts and changed the host config as well as the service configs to reflect: contact_group Telco I then restarted the Nagios service, but all users are still getting the alerts for this system. Am I missing a top level config somewhere? Thanks in advance! |

Thanks Habitual, I looked through the guide but I didn't see anything with regard to this particular issue. It looks like all users were using the 'generic-contact.cfg.' I created a new config for only those users.
Hopefully that will resolve the issue. |
"contacts" and "contact_groups" can be defined anywhere in
Host definitions Host group definitions Service definitions Service group definitions Contact definitions Contact group definitions This discusses Object Inheritance in Nagios They can be overridden so reading that really is a good idea. Please let us know... |
I believe it was an inherited template. I will let you know tomorrow morning if all went as planned.
Thanks so much for your help. |
