Arrow n00bie question

.I'm an extremely new mandrake 8.2 user, as in hours. I'm trying to install my linksys network adapter and the instructions say, after you go to the directory it was untarred into (which I've done):

Run 'make config' and make sure you select the USB option

I type 'make config' in the console (as root user) and linux responds with

bash: make: command not found

Can anyone help me out? I have no clue what I'm doing.

ok, when you installed mandrake, you didn't install any of the developement packages. go to the software manager (rpmdrake at a terminal prompt) and install the make package. i *THINK* that that should then pretty much install everything else you'll need for that, but i'd say also ensure that you have gcc installed to hopefully pick up any other dependencies. you'll probably need to install over 100mb of stuff... don't worry, it'll be fine!
