Mysterious momentary pause when typing

I was wondering if anyone else has this problem. When I type up an email or document, if I type for longer than 10 seconds or so, the cursor will freeze. After a brief pause, all ot the words that I typed will pop up in the document or email. I don't really know if I should be concerned or not.

I am using open office 1.1.2-10 and evolution 1.4.6-2
I have tried trouble shooting the keyboard and ruled out that possibility.
I am also using fedora core 2.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Kernel-version? Machine-type?

A bit more specific?
desktop/notebook?
apm/acpi?

And as for the kernel ... what distro is that from?

Cheers,
Tink

I don't have APM or ACPI enabled. The kernel is from Fedora Core 2

This is the problem. Things in a computer all work about the same way. So when you say a pause this tells me hight cpu throttle and the interrupt (irq set by the bios) is not interrupting a process of some nature. So when you type top at the command line is the cpu usage a little higher then normal? How bout swap do you have that set up? Are you tying to run kde 3.3 on a 233mhz machine? These all all things that could be wrong but without your input it's hard to say. Maybe post the results from the top command to give someone an idea? Are you on a desktop or a laptop?

More details please!

Sorry. lol Ok here goes...

I have an AMD 2600 that runs at 2.08 Ghz, 512 Megs of Ram, all on a desktop, and swap is enabled. No I didn't run top, however I have the system monitor gui on my toolbar, so if the CPU was up I would've noticed it. everything on the system seems to be running normal. I also have updated every package I have on my system through RPM and the Fedora Mirrors. I am running GNOME 2.6.0.1-1 on my desktop.

I have also checked the system , x.org, and security logs and nothing indicates anything wrong.

Hope these details help.
