Question MySQL question (may not be possible)

Hello, I'm trying to setup MySQL so that all users on my Linux system can create and access their own databases, without having access to the other users databases. Can anybody tell me if this is possible? And if so, how it can be done?

its all in permissions. you may have to manually create a db account for each user, but after that is done the rest should be trivial.

The easiest way to get started would probally be http://www.phpmyadmin.net/home_page/

Unless you have quite a number of users, then it might be quicker to write some kind of script. either way, phpmyadmin will make your users lives easier.

I really suck with databases, hopefully if there is a better way, sombody will speak up.... but I know with the interface I have set up with phpmyadmin I could create the setup you are looking for.

Thanks for the advise. I'm already using MyAdmin. What I do not understand, is the privileges. If I make one DB-user for each “real” Linux user, what privileges will I have to add to make sure that he can create and alter his own databases, but nobody else's? It would also be very useful if there was some way to restrict the amount of disk space his databases are allowed to occupy.
