mysql extra root user in linux

ok- i just deleted the anonymous (below). do i need
debian-yy59 host in this table for any reason?
i dont know where it came from. i think it is my
machine name for linux? why would it be put in
the mysql.user table? it is just another host
and user...right? no special reason?

all user roots with different hosts are now password
protected.

i like fooling with linux- php, and mysql so far.
it is easier than i ever imagined to install and
add extensions.

thanks for helping,
mtdew3q

mysql> select host, user from mysql.user;
+------------+------+
| host | user |
+------------+------+
| 127.0.0.1 | root |
| debian-qb59| root |
| localhost | root |
+------------+------+
3 rows in set (0.00 sec)

Hey There,

You should be able to remove that entry. The only thing that should happen if you do is that you won't be able to connect as root@debian-qb59

Don't do it just yet though!

Please, anyone, point out if I'm wrong. I am not a mySql expert, but use it in my work from time to time.

Thanks

, Mike

Sorry,

Go ahead. It should be okay, I just wasn't sure at the time. As long as root@localhost is still there, you can recover if it causes any problems
