Hi All,
i want to import a big mysql database ( about 500 mb ) into my host.
our VPS Server is CentOS and use webmin.
please help me what am i do?
database name is: doost_forums.sql
also here is mysql version:
[root@doost ~]# mysql -V
mysql Ver 14.7 Distrib 4.1.20, for redhat-linux-gnu (i686) using readline 4.3
Not knowing your network constraints the easiest way is to simply have the administartor open an SSH port for you and you can SCP your dump to the server. I am not that familiar with webmin and I do not know if it has an file upload feature but I doubt it has a remote sql import feature. Have you looked at what webmin has to offer?
I assume your question is asking HOW to get your dump to the physical machine and not HOW to do a mysql import. That is real easy and google will have many hits on that as it is a common question.

i have a root account on vps and i was restore database by mysql command into ssh yesterday. but i import it by root mysql user. is it danger for security?
