mysql and postgresql question

Hello Friends!
Would anyone please tell me howto delete databases from both mysql and postgresql.
after login on mysql and I execute SHOW DATABASES, I see a few databases that I create, but I don't need them anymore.
I use command such as: DELETE FROM User WHERE User='xxx';
I receive error messages.

What error messages? I also assume that you've chosen a database first (use <database name>).

EDIT: If you want to delete an entire database, use the drop command (drop <database name>) << if my memory is not failing me again...

dropdb <database name>
for PostgreSQL (note: you need to be a) the owner of the DB
or b) the postgres system user).
