I had a similar problem when I installed apache, php, mysql on mandrake 9.1. First off the the install notes instructed me to move the php.ini to an incorrect directory it should be in /etc or /etc/php and in the php.ini file the modules_ext(something similar to this) variable was =./ this would have been correct for the directory they tell you to move the php.ini file to not for the directory it should be in. You should move the php.ini file to either of the correct directories I mentioned and then change the variable to point to where ever it is that mysql.so and all your other modules are located.
No /usr/lib/php/extensions directory on Mandrake 9.1!
I have been reading for several hours now and am convinced that this last post contains the solution to my problem. Unfortunately, there is no /usr/lib/php directory on the box after installing from the Mandrake 9.1 disks. I am a newbie and a bit lost here. All I can think to do is to reinstall php from the 9.1 disks. Does anybody have any ideas about why these directoriesand files would be missing?
hi everyone
i've nearly the same problem, i use mandrake 9.0 and i can't use mysql because he tell me:
mysqladmin: connect to server at 'localhost' failed
error: 'Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (2)'
Check that mysqld is running and that the socket: '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' exists!
so i checked and mysql.sock don't exists so how can i make it work because i can't ad the package php-mysql
-4.3.0-2.mdk because i need other package and i can't make an update i don't know why.
so if anyone have an idea give it to me pls.
thnks
