My computer's short term memory sucks

Hey, new to linux here and having trouble. I am running Suse 9.3, and when I click into certain password-protected programs, I have to put in my password, fine, but even when I click on always use password automatically, after turning off the computer, and restarting, my computer seems to forget what I just did, and next time I do the same thing, I get the password screen again.

Is there anyway that made sense to anyone? Appreciate any help.

I've experienced the same thing in Mepis as well.
And this person experienced it in Debian:

It seems to be a KDE thing.
Honestly, though, the not remembering of the root password is for your own security.

After you restart your box the short memory flushes down. If you ask it to remember password and do not restart, will it remember?

Sorry, man! Linux is quite secure OS

It gets tougher if you use ReiserFS instead of Ext3. Reiser is really a bugger. Pass for flashdisks and external drives and so on..

Haha I learn something new everyday, thanks for resolving that for me guys. This mean linux doesn't need to restart daily? (I don't care what anyone says, MS needed daily boots for me).

In fact I do not remember when I restarted my box last time. Hmmm... a year ago according to logs
