My Computer has Remote File Systems?

When I reboot my machine I see the words "Unmounting remote file system." Why does my computer have an remote file system at all? The only mounted file system I'm aware of is the one on my SATA drive. Is it just something weird with my first attempt at a custom kernel?

Its probably just checking for remote file systems, like USB, Samba etc.

It is just part of the standard shutdown process. If you did have a remote filesystem mounted, then it needs to be unmounted before the machine is shutdown.

Things can get messy if remote filesystems are not unmounted before shutdown - the server may think that the filesystem is still being used, even though the machine is off.
