Despite all the bad press I cannot speak bad of Mr. Gates anymore on account of the fact that he is after giving 30,250,000,000.00 to the world good.

I saw an article (TV show??) somewhere about the relative philanthropy of various tycoons. They argued that one's philanthropy should be judged in proportion to their net worth. By this measure, Bill Gates came out as a bit player. I don't know if Chairman Bill started as a good person, but he surely is vulnerable to a very old truism:
Power corrupts---absolute power corrupts absolutely.
Gates is perfectly positioned to do something I doubt that he has the courage for: Embrace Open-Source as the wave of the future and help Microsoft re-structure to meet the challenge. In the process, he should acknowledge the past abuses of power---set the stage for everyone to start with a clean slate.
(He'd of course need to dump his stock first, which of course would crash the market.........Hmmmmmmm, next idea??....
...)
