Question mouse cursor goes crazy during network activity

I'm running FC4 on an HP Pavilion dv8000 series laptop. The touchpad works fine until I get heavy network traffic (i.e., ftp or trying to print something to a remote printer) at which point the mouse cursor races all over the screen randomly activating applications as if a button has been clicked. I'm using a PCMCIA Linksys Network PC Card and the dv8000's touchpad. My best guess is that there is an interrupt conflict between the two. I've looked through /var/log/messages and the info available in /proc, but haven't seen anything there that seems to indicate a conflict. I've read through the HOWTOs that seemed relevant, but didn't find the answer. Can someone help me track down where this conflict is coming from and help resolve it?

Thanks,
Todd
