Mouse cursor background image

Hello,

I've encountered a weird problem that somehow has mysteriously manifested itself on my Fedora Core 6 system, sometime over the Holidays.

My mouse cursor has acquired some strange background image showing what looks to be paragraphs of chinese glyphs (they are too small to make out clearly). This background image is contained in rougly a 1 inch square with the mouse cursor hot spot in the upper left-hand corner. The mouse cursor is visible, but whatever is under those glyphs is covered.

I've tried the mouse configuration gui -- but it says nothing of background images for the mouse. I've also deleted and recreated my xconfig.org file to see if that somehow got mangled. I've been searching the web for a couple of hours, but cant seem to find anything related to my problem.

I'm not familiar with Fedora file locations, but it probably uses *.png, *.bmp, or *.ico for the mouse pointer. The pointer is actually an image file which has a transparent background, which in your case has been modified. Do a search for those file types, probably in /usr/share, /var, or /etc.

You don't say which desktop you're using (kde, gnome, etc.) so can't be much more specific. In the future please provide more information about your system, such as kernel version, desktop & version and anything else which seems pertinent.

Hope this is useful.
