Mouse's problem or video card's problem?

Hello all,
My friend have a comp installed RH7.1. The video card is Sis 730 Rev 31, but the system just detect the Sis 630 and he select that option. Then everything go smooth while installing. However, wheneve he moves and dragging the mouse, the desktop will be filled with a black area along the mouse track. What's wrong? How to fix it?
We both think it's problem of the mouse at first, so we set the mousetype to another one using setup in root mode. After that, we found all the functionality of the setup are unavailable now. We have tried to change the /etc/sysconfig/mouse 's content to default one, but it doesn't work. Please help!
Note that the video card's buffer ram comes from the main ram and occupy 64MB.
It's very urgent! Please help! Thanks in advance
