monitor detection utility

Does anyone know of a utility that will determine the horizontal sync, vertical sync, valid resolutions, etc... for my laptop's monitor?

does one even exist ?

but laptops use LCD's, which usually run in the 30-50 zone, so use that and it should work (look up your laptop specs if you want .. the other sync rate (the one thats base on how big the screen resolution is) should be a easy to find out (assuming you know what kind of laptop you have)) ....

i guess the closest util i would assume comes in the libggi package (comes with some utils, i think the one you might look at is monitor-* (hmm, i forget its name, but it comes with libggi .... don't know how helpful it might be)
