yes, kernel 2.6 requires module init tools
what went wrong compiling from source?

check redhats site, or google.com/linux for an rpm version.

i've searched it already but i dont the latest version or the minimal rversion required by kernel 2.6
i only get the latest version from kernel.org ftp sites in source code.

please tell me how to compile the source code in redhat 9?
theres 2 type of configure
./configure --prefix=/ which will installed it into /sbin
./configure which will installed into /usr/local/sbin

which one is suitable for redhat 9?
