I am trying to locate drivers for a MRI-1456PCI-R modem. The manufacturer does not support Linux, but I wondered if anyone out there knows of one that has been written??
I tried to do a search with just "MRI-1456PCI-R modem linux" on google and turned up absolutely nothing. I tried other search engines and you're totally right... there are no linux drivers for this beast just yet... still, though, it is possible to write your own drivers- yes, it can be done-- check out this page... i have used the tutorial to write a driver for a piece of unsupported hardware although only once...and to be truthful i probably got lucky to make it work... maybe you can too... at th very least it has given me a fairly decent idea on how drivers are written and how to control hardware thru the operating system... give it a shot and see what you think...
Thanks I'll take your advice and put it some good use, maybe I'll get it to work?
If not can you give me an idea of a good modem to use with Mandrake?
I am very new to this and haven't even received the OS yet, just prepping early,
Thanks again
