Migrating to another system, would like to keep user settings and profiles..
Hi, I'm migrating to a different system/distro, but I would like to keep the user settings, like their password, home directory, etc..
is there an easy way to do it? |
just keep the home directory and /etc/passwd and /etc/shadow.
if the home directory is not a separate partition, use tar to back it up. |
even if the distro is different?
|
there seems to be no problem for me to migrate from Redhat to SuSE then back to Redhat. All settings are preserved.
