How can I find out the exact memory usage of my running applications? I mean more than the very general statistics that top gives. I need more than just 1.4% of memory. On a 4 GB of RAM system - even 0.1% is 4MB of variance. I want to know down to the (kilo)byte how much memory is being used.
Thank you, that was very informative - if not a little disappointing (a couple of what I thought were super low-memory programs use much more memory than I thought; though some were where I thought they should be; and some downright scared me! - what's ya gonna do?).
