Memory Requirements - Mandrake

Hi

I'm building a system to act as a router and also provide web services/ desktop sharing for me at home when I'm at work.

The spec is

AMD Jetway MB
4 Port PCI Router Card (Router for 3 PCS)
Athlon XP 2200
Internal Modem
23GB HDD

Anyway I have got 256MB 266MHZ DDR Memory and I'm wondering if its enough. I plan on using it as a router for the PCs at home as well as for accessing my Windows XP machine from work using Remote Desktop/VNC.

I would also like to use it remotely for a web server running PERL (no DBs though - just for me) and news group access such that I can leave it on forever downloading binary movies say.

I plan on utilising it as an email server, fax server and possibly HTTP proxy server. Oh and of course there will be a firewall on it for security reasons.

Is my meory enough to do these things?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

-Darren

That's plenty. I've run a simple File Server, Web Server, NFS, Samba, ssh and FTP on a p200 with 64 megs of RAM with no problems..

mem requirements

I've installed Mandrake 9.1 on a 400mhz with 64mbs of RAM. Runs fine and dandy on the desktop!! Even KDE

If your using it in a light- server, I'd imagine it'd take even less memory
