Mandrake 9.1: Hard time installing w/ 9500 Pro - Urgent.
I'm trying to install Mandrake 9.1 on this machine and I'm having problems. Before I tell you them, I'd like to tell you the specs of my machine incase you need them:
- Abit IS7 Motherboard
- Radeon 9500 Pro video card
- Crucial 512mb DDR PC3200 stick x2
- Intel P4 2.4GHZ
When I get to the initial screen, the one where you "Click <enter> to install in graphical mode", the screen turns black and then the caps lock LED and the scroll lock LED start blinking at me. Clearly the install would not go, so it seems like a graphic card problem?
Not wanting to wait, I rebooted and pressed F1 and then typed "text" to start it in text mode. It worked, and the nistall went _fine_ in text mode. So install finishes and I reboot, and then it starts to load (all the [OK]'s) until it gets to "The backspace key sends: ^? [OK]". It appantly freezes, so I restart and do it again and this time it gets to "Building Mozilla Registry" and freezes again. That's as far as I got.
Any ideas? Based on the fact I couldn't start the install in graphical mode worries me -- I had to do text. After it was installed, I hit "ESC" in lilo and typed "linux --vga=normal" and it didn't seem to help.
Please help, I really want to get 9.1 running!
