"make" command doesn´t work

Yeah me again

i wanted to install new packages to my linux (it was the first time i did that), and therefore i have to use the "make" command.
If i use that Linux writes :
bash: make: command not found
i have searched after the "make" command witch "which" but i didn´t found anything.
I hope somebody can help me how i can "activate" the "make"-command.
Thanks very much.

Bye

Before "make" you know you have to use "./configure" . Does it return some errors?
