Mac/Linux dual-booters: Has anyone installed Snow Leopard yet?

[Log in to get rid of this advertisement]
Hi everyone,

I'm thinking of updating Mac OS X from 10.5.8 to 10.6.0 but I'm worried that Mac might erase Linux and reFIT.

Has anyone here installed 10.6 and been able to keep Linux without having to reinstall it? Ubuntu works great now and I have it all configured so I would hate to have to reinstall it again.

Also, I heard that Apple made some changes to the HFS file system with 10.6, can Linux still read/write HFS (non-journalized)?

Thanks,
Vince

Vince,

I have my machine booting 5 os-es with rEFIt with no problem. Occasionally, it gets "reset" but following this doc from the rEFIt site has not let me down yet.

http://refit.sourceforge.net/doc/c1s4_osxupdates.html

You could also keep a bootable cd on hand for recovery as well...just in case.

Thanks for the link.

Have you installed Snow Leopard yet? If you did, what was your experience like? Does Snow Leopard really need 128 MB of space after its partition?
