Low disk space in /var

Hi there, recently I have installed FC5 and allocated 400MB space for /var. Everything goes fine. But tomorrow, the system reports 'low disk space' in /var. I checked the files in /var and found the disk space are mainly occupied by /var/cache/logwatch. There are about 300MB in that directory. Are the file useful? Can I delete them? What can I do? Thanks.

On my FC5 /var/cache/logwatch is generally empty. Doing some looking through the log files, this directory is only supposed to be used for temporary scratch space. So it sounds like something is wrong with your logwatch setup. Are you noticing any e-mails or log entries about logwatch not completing successfully?

In any case, it seems like you can just clear that directory out with no problem.

Thank you, btmiller. I just clear the directory out and no problem shows up.

I'm wondering whether I can setup the logwatch. I did not notice any e-mails or log entries about logwatch not completing successfully.
