Lost My Files--Help needed to recover them (Reiser over FAT32)

Hi,

I had a /dev/hdb7 FAT32 partition and around 8GB of free space. When i installed Arch i createa swap partition in the free space and by mistake i chose the /dev/hdb7 as the / partition with reiserfs filesystem.I do not have my partition table backup.

Is there a way i can recover the files that were there in the FAT32
/dev/hdb7 partition???

Thanks,
Vasanth

If you have a windows partition, or a friend with windows, you can use PC Inspector File Recovery. Sorry, but I don't know of any linux apps that do the same thing.

If it wrote files to the partition, you're pretty much dead. Otherwise, a number of tools would do the trick. Stellar Phoenix works well, but is not (last I checked) free.

If you reformatted as a different filesystem, *and* did an install into that partition,I'd say you have no chance.
