Hm. So I realized that if we are logged in to the exact same IP, then this all works fine(this being who, write). I guess I was hoping that because it somehow retrieves our documents, we were actually all logging in to the same machine via different terminals and therefore it was just one machine with like 20 IP's.
I know, I know, this probably sounds retarded, but I am very new to playing with networks so I do not know what can be done yet, or what kind of setup to assume for a certain application(like 30 students doing minimal usage)
does anyone know if there is a way to view users logged into other hosts on the same subnet, and possibly to message them. The entire lab seems to be contained in a class c address space, so I would love to be able to see what users were logged into other computers in the lab and contact them accordingly
