Login Problem


- hey guys i did something stupid in my ubuntu box....i accidentally move my entire home directory to a certain folder...i copied it back to ./home directory...then i restart and i can no longer login....and this ubuntu box has only 1 user account......

I'm not sure if this will work, but...

Try passing "linux single" as the kernel parameters to GRUB when your computer is booting. That should put you in to single user mode as root, at which point you might be able to move your home directory back where it should be.

Never done that on Ubuntu (actually, never accidentally moved /home to somewhere else!)

You were playing around as root weren't you? :P

im not familiar with this, how do i do it.

yeah i was trying to copy some file when that happen...
