Login Failed
 

People,
Trying to log into REDHAT and when I enter the user name and password for root keeps telling me "AUTHENTICATION FAILED"
don´t know what to do, can´t login in to REDHAT
can anyone help me ??

You can boot into single-user mode and reset the root password. Check my reply to this previous post...

Thanks for your answer, I did what you´ve wrote, but the issue is tha when I tried to log in like ROOT it keeps telling me "AUTHENTICATION FAILED", no matter what i put as ROOT PASSWORD
Can you help me with this ?

Are you using "root" or "ROOT" as the username? It should be "root".

Otherwise, you can login to single-user mode, create a regular user account, reboot and login as the new user, then "su -" into root account when you need to do something as root. It will just ask for the root password then.
