Logging output from DUMP

How can I log the output from the command:

/sbin/dump -0u -f /dev/st0 /dev/hda2

If I try

/sbin/dump -0u -f /dev/st0 /dev/hda2 > backup.log

.. it doesnt work.

Nor does the append method ( >> ) of redirecting output to a file.

Anyone have any ideas?

It may be writing its output to stderr - try the follwing:

# /sbin/dump -0u -f /dev/st0 /dev/hda2 2> backup.log
