Load average calculation ?


How the "load average" in Linux is calcualted? What are dependent variables?

The load average is the average number of jobs in the run queue.

What is the "nice" level based on?

My load average is currently 0.01 0.06 0.10 as shown by top.

cpu usage is
3.6% user, .3% system 0.0% nice, and the rest idle.

What is that "nice" percentage anyway?

The percentage marks how busy the nice threads are.

The threads that play well with others, and you think I'm kidding
