LKMs, missing symbols, etc.

Hey,

When doing:
Code:
modprobe some_module
I get a FE, reason: some kind of symbol is undefined.
I checked dmsg, I know what symbol I'm missing.. But the question is.. how do I load it? I mean, obviously, it's exported by some LKM, but how can I determine which LKM I am lacking? Is there any way to do it? I thought modprobe loads all the LKMs needed? So perhaps thats a case of my kernel being compiled wrongly?

Regards,
xoi

Probably modprobe cannot find the module on which the one you are trying to load depnds. You can try googling on the missing symbol error -- that often helps. Otherwise you'll need to consult the documentation of the module and figure out what prerequisite you are missing. This could also be a result of an incompatibility between the module you are trying to load and the current kernel version.

if you state what module it is, someone here might be able to help you.
