Linux set up that enables ie6...

how can i set up linux so that i can run ie6 without booting over to windows? i'm installing simplymepis on a 2nd hard drive that has win98 installed now.

i was planning to totally wipe win98 off the machine, however, i thought that i might want to leave it on so that i had the proper license to run ie6...

the next question is... how can i run ie6 from inside mepis?

firefox on windows has an open in ie extension... does linux have the same thing? i'm thinking not.

yes, i ABSOLUTELY DESPISE ie6, but there are some people out there who could only for ie6 and i'm the sucker holding their bag.

what is the best way to manage this? tutorials that work would do fine.

tia...

You can run IE using WINE or CrossOver Office. If you search on this site or google, there are instructions on how to setup IE on Linux.

User Agent Switcher has solved all my IE-only website problems. However, if you absolutely must use IE, make sure you have wine and cabextract installed and then download ies4linux from this website. Once you've extracted the .tar.gz, double-click on the ies4linux.sh script and run it in terminal. Once it's installed, the launcher will be in /home/username/bin/ie6
