Linux running Office 2007 + Acrobat reader?

I found at university a PC running Linux (don't know what version it is however) but also able to run Office 2007 and Acrobat Reader 7, which I found curious, since no XP OS is installed on that machine, anyone can clarify this?

Acrobat Reader 7 appears to have been available for Linux and it's possible that Office was running with Wine or CrossOver.

thanks, then i believe it is Wine which is in use for Office to run, although OpenOffice is the one used by default, as docs opened with Office 2007 crash everytime
